Title: Thomas & January
Series: Sleepless #2
Author: Fisher Amelie
Published: June 15, 2012
Publisher: Indie
Thomas Eriksson thinks he has it all figured out.
"People crossed the street when they saw me. I’m not really sure why that was. I mean, okay, I might have looked a bit intimidating if I was being truthful with you. I’d changed since New York. New York represented a life that wasn’t real, not truthfully, anyway. No, New York was the “young, immature, in love, idiot" side of Tom. The “Tie-Dye Tom of New York City” didn’t exist anymore. Tie-Dye Tom was dead."
January Mac Lochlainn thinks she’s her own worst enemy.
"I quit Berkeley. Threw away a full scholarship. Plans, you ask? What plans?"
But they’re both wrong.
I think I am going to do a picture review on the cover because this is pretty much how I felt about the cover.

When I first saw the cover-
Thirty minutes later after reading the excerpt and not knowing when the book was coming out. Fisher Amelie must be a sadist. :) Why!!!!!!!!!!! was my reaction.-
Why are you so cruel, Fisher? Why? *cries* |
Then after I calmed myself down and realized it had come to this. Well, Fisher if you read this you will know what I have done with my life for the past couple of months.-
I know, I know. I need to seek a mental help. ;) |
And then after I saw it had came out and still had the beautiful cover, here is my reaction. Yet, before I died I had time to ask Tom to marry me. -
I have died and gone to heaven. |
First, off I like to start this review off with a it's not fair! I half way wrote a story before I heard of this one was called An American January way back 10 months ago and I look up ,and Fisher has already written Thomas and January. I thought January was only a name I could come up with. It's not fair that I am not the only name Genius in the world! Atleast my guy name wasn't Thomas- just to let you people know the main male protagonist was named Excell.
Name stealer. :P |
The only complaint on the book is the shortness. I got captivated and I needed more, people. I needed more writing! It was my own personal crack. When I read the book my expression grew to be like this.
So, I think Fisher has pretty much captured my heart with Tom and January. Both exceeding expectation characters, rival even the beloved Callum and Harper. Sure the book starts off with a first kiss in the first chapter. Doesn't bother me a bit because the romance evolves. The relationship grows over time. It blooms slowly and the first kiss just didn't make them fall helplessly in love. They took their time falling into love. They took their time to make sure that the other one just wasn't a jerk face. They kissed once, they get arrested once, they listen to music several times, and they lose there hearts for the rest of there lifes.
I think I missed my Tye Dye Tom for some time. I loved Thomas, the new one but where is my Tom with all the tye dye and have to wear a piece no matter what , yet he left all of that behind him in New York? Well darn. Although, I hated to see Kelly out of his life even though she is soon to be married. I always had a liking to her because of her 5 feet exactly height.
January. One of my favorite Irish people in the whole world. This character has so evolved and grown in this book. A music lover that gave up everything just for - for herself. She didn't feel Berkley was for her so she drops out even with her full scholarship. That girl has spunk for telling her parents- even more so about it to there face. Then she just leaves like that and when she invited Tom to the party. Well I just couldn't help but laugh. This is one female character that is independent and one of my all time favorite female character leads.
I wish I worked for Seven, the music company. All the guys that worked there sounded amazingly cute. Every single last one of them sounded book boyfriend style- excluding Jonah. I could hit him with a shovel as I type. Then, instead of working for Seven in the US move me to Europe, my label friends. I want to go meet the gopher interns. They sounded very appealing in my little ears.
So one last thing I need to say before I go, Can I have Tom's Tye Dye underwear? :)

I'm so happy Thomas falls in love with the right girl!
ReplyDeleteFisher writes awesome romance, and I love that there's so much music in this one:)
January and Thomas sound like characters who'll heal through their love for each other:)
