Odd Fact Daily

I have been going to the same school for 9 weeks and I havent used 2 of the 3 bathrooms in our school. I had to use the rest room today in Eastern Hemisphere so I asked the teacher if I could use the bathroom and Mrs Henshaw says I could. Lets say it went like this.

As I was walking down the hallway to the bathroom it came across my mind that I have no idea which side is the girls. I was on the verge of panicking then I see Connor Crosby, a tall red headed boy with freckles who hugs me everyday  and which my friend has a crush on, He smiles and waves and leaned against the water fountain "Hey Courtney"
I respond " Hey Connor quick question...."
   Connor -"Shoot "
I resond with a slight blush "Which one is the girls bathroom?"
Connor responds by a chorus of laughter.
"Are you serious?" he asked between laughs
"Yes which one is the girls ?' I asked once again
"Left one" he said leaning on the water fountain laughter still found in the chambers of his throat
I looked in the bathroom to make sure there was no urinals but all I saw was a bathroom with stalls. I walked in and used it and found my way back to class. slightly red faced

Odd Fact Daily

Okay, one thing about me is that I hate to be  told mean things. I had that happen when my English teachers says ...you are a wonderful writer..... and then later on in the note she wrote she put maybe you should try something other than  writing... It really does not intrugue a person to the wording...... She gave me this note because I asked her to read my story. Which started something like this :

John throws a snowball at my hair as soon as mine meets his chest. I duck to avoid it but am too late , as the small glacier, hits my face and I fall into the snow covered London streets, a smile playing on my thin lips, revenge going through my almost frozen mind.

So when I read what Mrs French wrote about my story, it took everything I had not to walk up and throw it away. So instead of throwing it in the garbage , I ripped the folder and the story up in two. I sat in class sighing for the rest of the period.

Sorry and Odd Fact Daily

I am so sorry about the last 80 teen thursday post... I am trying to fix it right now. It is deciding to be a butt today so maybe it will work maybe it won't.

My church youth group more or less frightens me. There are about 8 of us : A.J. , Brett (older cousin), Jordan (pronouced Jerden) , Abby, Faith, Allie, Hannah, Johanna, Brandon,Me.

We had a movie night at church two nights ago. I get there and Joanna is not in a good mood so I ask her whats wrong ans this is how the coversation went :
"You know Austin Lee?" - Johanna
"Yeah, I had someone point him out for me a few days ago"- Courtney
"Well we were having a long discussion and he knows that I love him." - Johanna
"Oh , you love some boy and you are in 8th grade?" - Courtney
"Yes ever since 6th grade" - Johanna
"Oh well good luck with that" - Courtney smiling and walking off

*25 minutes later in the Youth Room *

"Jordan, move " I tell Jordan who is spread out on the couch in the room.
"No '" - Jordan
"Please or I am going to grab you by your ear and make you move"  I say my hands on my hips
"Do it" - Jordan
"Fine" - I grab Jordan by his ear but he doesnt move
"Move or I am going to sit on you"  - I threaten
His next remark should have gotten him a slap on his face.
" Please don't. No offence but you have an overly larged butt for someone of your size and figure"  - Jordan says meaning it and me blushing red

Okay well I weigh 104.5 and I am 5 feet tall but I do not gain in my stomach but in my butt and I wear size 3 in jeans and I dont have that big of a butt.

80 Teen Thursdays Review: Wrong- Way Romance

 Title: Wrong-Way  Romance
Author : Sherri Cobb South
Published: 1991
Rating of Teen Romance 80s scale : 5/5

Wrong -Way Romance is  the first Sweet Dream Series book I have ever bought, recommended  to me by my Aunt Andrea who read them as a teen and I was out of books to read at the time. (This was before I discovered something called the YA section of the library which consists of 35 books.... The amount of books we have is sad))
It was funny though... she got it mixed up with Linda Kage's The Stillburrow Crush .Well atleast she got the plot mixed up with so I ended up buying both of them. One I had to wait 3 weeks for it to come in in paperback form because they no longer was in print and I caught it at a GREAT price because Wrong Way Romance by Sherri Cobb South usually costs 50.00 a copy on amazon and I got it for $8??... So this started me out on the YA or teen reading.... Just a quick recap about me and YA fiction

    Wrong-Way Romance review-

Blurb-

If there's one boy at Maplesville High that Darby Haynes can't stand, it's Bruce Edwards. Darby first met him when his car plowed into hers at a busy intersection. She's been running into him --literally--ever since. It doesn't matter that Bruce is a hunk and that most of the girls at school have crushes on him. To Darby he's nothing but a clumsy, conceited jerk.

Than David Matthews, a guy Darby likes even less, starts asking her out. In desperation, Darby asks Bruce to pretend he's her boyfriend. It's supposed to be a temporary arrangement to get David to lose interest in her. Darby doesn't count on falling for Bruce in the process! She's already convinced David that she and Bruce are in love. Now can she convince Bruce?

Okay well Darby is well developed. She is sarcastic, funny, and more or less popular. She first met Bruce in an intersection where his bumper met hers and they exchanged some words  like she calling him a  Loud mouthed Neanderthal. Which had me laughing. Also when she spills milk into Davids lap. O well I was cracking up in the middle of Math class.

The plot is the typical, girl-hates-boy-then-falls-in-love-with-him... But it was so good I cant even explain it . Well for one thing Bruce is 6'4 and a lineman with blue eyes and blonde hair. He is described as extreamly handsome just has no intrest in girls even though every girl

Odd Fact Daily

Todays odd fact is that the top shelf of my booksshelf is scattered with bookmarks from authors and a few bookplates... I love to get bookmarks and bookplates but I don't have anywhere to put them so I just lay them on the top shelf of my desk/bookshelf to help decorate it... So far i have a few book plates and 4 book marks . 2 from Cindy C Bennett,1 from Cheri Schmidts, and one from Amalia Howard... They are all lovely.

Interview with Linda Kage

* Dark Purple is me asking a question
*Linda answering my questions
*Me commenting on Linda's answers

I have an interview with the lovely Linda Kage who has agreed to answer my questions. I loved her novel, The Stillburrow Crush which is on my to-buy list in paperback... You know I am such a procrastinator

1) Do you plan your stories before you even write it or do you just let it flow from your finger tips ?
I think I'm a planner.  At least I have to have a general idea in my head, or I get stuck.  Every once in a while, this cool scene will come to me and I'll jot it down, but then after that, I'm like, okay, now where do I go?  Soooo...I'll think about it a while until I get an idea of what to do next.

( I wish I could finish the first 3 chapters in any of my stories. I get frustrated and the documents find them selves strolled through my house all over the place. The first page may be in the bathroom and the next in the pantry next to the rice ... Its sad I know))

2) When did you first have an interest in writing?

In first grade. My teacher read one of my cheesy poems I had to write for a class assignment, and she praised it so much, I've wanted to be a real author ever since.
((Mine was 6th grade when one of my teachers made us write a short story mine was a romance called The Neutral Zone and I got in trouble for using the sentence His lips clamped onto mine as if sealing an agreement of our love forever...  My mother asked my teachers to watch to see if I read any inappropriate books which I did not .. It was such an embarrassment ))
3) What were you in high school? Were you a part of the popular group or one of the kids that studied for every test that was handed to them? Did you want to stay in highschool or get the heck out? (Sorry, that was a mulitple question one. )
I'm not too sure what I was in high school.  It was a pretty small school (around 200-250 students total of freshmen through seniors), so I was probably in a couple groups. I participated in basketball a few years, volleyball, and track, so I might've been though of as a jock.  I was in the student honor's society, but I wasn't a straight A student, there was one or two Cs mixed in there with the As and Bs. I didn't hang out with the most popular people, but I didn't really hang out with the least popular people either. I'd say I was somewhere in the middle.  Lots of my friends were Christianly (me too), so  I bet I was considered a goody-two-shoes.  A nice girl.  I know, pretty boring.
I was ready to leave by the end of it.  Don't really miss it either, though I never had a bad time in high school, it just wasn't my thing.  I'm glad to be away from from that kind of social environment and do my own thing without worrying about fitting in so much.
(( I am still in it... so I will get back to y'all but I think I am ready to leave it ))
4) Are your characters in your books based on anyone in real life ?
No, not really.  If I know someone with an interesting habit or if they say something that's totally cool, I'll find a way to slip it into my stories.  But I couldn't tell you who said what or who did what in real life.  Though I can say I DID wear a long, brown trench coat duster thing in high school like Carrie did in The Stillburrow Crush.
( I admit it . I have written about people in real life either by there appearance or personality that set them different from everyone else, I just do not let the people I write about read the stories, otherwise it would be akward considering the fact that all I write are romances :) )
5) If you had to pick one of your characters to meet from The Stillburrow Crush, who would it be?
I'd want to meet Marty.  I'd have a serious crush on him too, though I'd be too bashful to actually talk to him.

(I liked Marty but I was in love with Luke since the beginning but isnt everyone? The guy writes poetry AND has an amazing car. Right now I am Jealous at Carrie for having him all to herself...)
6) Best Book Boyfriend from any of your stories ?
Hands down, Ryder from The Color of Grace.  That young adult romance story hasn't come out yet.  I just contracted it, so hopefully it'll release in 2012. But trust me, from the moment he meets Grace, you KNOW he likes her.  He just melts my heart.

Lydia is soooo cute :)
( Another YA romance from you? Heck it will be on my Nook the day it comes out. I can't wait to get my hands on it, another book to add to my to-read books for 2012 )
7) Do you cry in a sad story when one of the main characters die ?
I do, but I cry more when they don't die.  I bawled most of the way through the second Twilight book because Bella and Edward were separated. What gets to me most is when people in love are separated.  Oh, don't make me cry again.  I don't have a tissue handy to wipe my nose.

( I usually bawl when one of my favorite characters die.. I was reading Sing Me to Sleep by Angela Morrison during school.. talk about bawling in the middle of Math class. I had to go to the bathroom to stop crying )
8) Your favorite book of all time?
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.  But it's been so long since I read it, I forgot a lot about that story. I just remember liking it...a lot.

( i need to read it... It is on my to-read shelf. I just need to pick it up on my nook or next time I go to Wal-Mart pick up the paperback version cause the closest bo(Gokstore near me , other than the used book store is 1 hour away)
9) Advice to the Writers of the World ?
Don't give up.  If you REALLY want to be a writer, you'll find your own way to get there and you'll find the time to do it.  You'll learn how to write, and submit your stories, and improve your talent. It won't be easy, and at the beginning, there will be more heartbreaks than reasons to celebrate.  But the only thing that can honestly stop you is giving up.

( GREAT advice, I will take that in my mind and cherish it because that really is great advice and i really needed it because I am writing a story called Love is Diverse  and I am starting to give up but I will keep trying :) )
10)Do you have a most obsessed fan ?
Add caption
No. I really need an obsessed fan over here.  So not feeling the love.  I've had a couple people (like the wonderful Courtney) who've written to me and chatted, which totally makes my day.  But no one's ever been too much that I can't take them.

( Give it time... You will get someone who is so obsessed they email you every second of the day and ask constantly for a signed bookmark or book plate they can add to your idol in their bedroom  JK. (: ))
11) Who inspired you to write ?
I guess that first grade teacher did.  Actually, I've had a couple of really awesome school teachers who have praised my writing.  They're the ones who made me think I could really do it.  My sister Sandra reads every thing I write, be it good or bad.

( None of my teachers I have had in the past liked to read stories written by kids so no praising- yet )

12) Favorite thing to do during your free time ?
Reading, of course!!  I got married and had a baby, so I like spending time with those two.  I totally love my family.  I like watching movies, and taking walks, and eating out (oh, yum, I LOVE to eat out!!).

( Nice.....)

13) Out of all your books which one was your favorite to write ?
Ooh, tough question.  I dunno.  The story I'm currently writing is always the one I like best.  Then I finish it and start another, and love that one the best.  I'm so fickle.

Thank you so much, Linda. I really appreciate you taking your time to let me interview you even though I do not have thee most interesting questions in the world, I hope I did not waste too much of your time.  Again, I thank you :)

Giveaway

http://www.blogger.com/%3CA>Banner created with MyBannerMaker.com

I decided to do an 9/ 11 giveaway. It was a terrible time for America on that dark September day. So i Decided to try and cheer up some people with a copy of Indie Girl

FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD INDIE KONKIPUDDI HAS ALWAYS DREAMED OF BECOMING A FASHION REPORTER. She'd do anything to land an internship with glamorous Celebrity Style magazine -- even babysit publisher Aaralyn Taylor's two-year-old son. Indie's neurosurgeon dad can't understand why Indie would want to spend her weekends picking Play-Doh off of someone else's Persian carpets, and pretty soon she starts asking herself the same thing.

Then Indie finds out that (1) Celebrity Style is in trouble, and (2) Hollywood's hottest star is having her wedding dress made in a village in India. Indie's sure she's scored the juiciest gossip in town -- the kind ofstory that will put the magazine back on the map and finally land her the internship! But when things don't pan out exactly as planned, Indie wonders -- will Aaralyn ever see her as anything more than just the hired help?

 * This is open to the US only as of because of 9/11 and shipping costs. Extra entry for each way you spread the word... I really do not care how you do it as long as you spreaded the word

Interview with Renee Carter

2) If you had to pick a favorite character out of His Eyes, who would it be?
Chris is definitely my favorite character. He’s a great little brother who clearly adores Tristan, but he also has a cute sassy streak.

3) Can you tell us how you got published by Outskirts Press?
His Eyes is a book that I indie-published in paperback with the help of Outskirts Press. I also published His Eyes in eBook form through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

4) What was process to publishing His Eyes?
It took me a while to decide I wanted to indie-publish His Eyes; publishing a book yourself takes a lot of work. I had help editing, but did my own text layout, cover design, and marketing. The process was totally worthwhile when I saw the first reviews on Amazon and knew that my book was reaching an audience who enjoyed what I had written.

5) Who is your favorite author?

Jane Austen will always be my favorite romantic writer.

6) What is your advice for the writers of the world? (This is for a page I am working on)
Never underestimate how valuable the Internet is as a resource for reaching potential readers. I’m so excited when I get feedback from a reader in another country. It wouldn’t have been possible for an indie author fifteen years ago.

7) How long does it take you to write a book?
I wrote the first draft of His Eyes in three months and then proceeded to revise it for the next three years.

8) Do you have a most-obsessed fan?
I love getting emails from fans, but I don’t know if I have a most-obsessed fan…except maybe my mom. She probably asks me about my writing more often than anyone else.

9) If you had to grab one book and your house is on fire, which one would it be?
I would take the Bible from my nightstand and the antique copy of Pride and Prejudice that my husband gave to me when he proposed.

10) What age did you start to get into writing?
When I was 8, I started writing a chapter book about a girl who learns that cookies can talk. Before that, I used to tell stories into a cassette recorder and use my dolls as props.

11) What can you tell me about Masked?
The heroine of Masked is the opposite of Amy from His Eyes. Amy isn't really concerned with what people think of her and she's into helping others out. Sierra comes off as shallow and selfish. Only when she meets Nom, a disfigured boy who's below her league, do we begin to see that there may be another side to her.

12) Who inspired you to start writing?
I was homeschooled when I was little and for my second grade English project, my mom started helping me write a simple chapter book about a princess bunny. Writing with her got me excited about creating my own stories.

13) Is there anything in His Eyes that you wished you would have changed before it got published?
As a writer, I think it’s difficult to ever be completely satisfied with something you’ve written.

14) If you had to pick an author to write with, dead or alive, who would it be?
I loved Meg Cabot’s books when I was younger and I think she’s inspirational for female YA writers. She has a great writing voice, so I’m sure she would be a blast to write with.

15) Could you tell us a little bit about you?
Currently, I’m living in Wisconsin with my husband. My day job involves creating digital media and editing for a corporate website. In my spare time, I love reading good young adult sci fi/fantasy novels.

Well that was my interview with the delightful Renee Carter whos book His Eyes you can purchase at Amazon and  Barnes and Nobles both in either paperback or ebook form. Also check out Renee's Website
